My relatives will be visiting me from Pakistan some time next summer and I’m planning on a road trip from NJ to Montreal to Quebec City to Toronto and then back home and have few questions regarding all this:
1- The relatives are Pakistani nationals and have US visas multiple entries, 5 years – Would it be better for them to get Canadian visas from Pakistan or should they get it when they arrive in US? I heard if you apply in US for Canadia visa is usually takes few days. On the other hand I don’t want to risk the whole trip based on their getting visa when they in US so knowing if they get the visa in advance will help a lot!
2- How long a vistor visa usually Canadian consular gives if you apply in Pakistan? The reason I ask is if they give 6 months visas then perhaps they should apply some time in Feb 2011. They plan on being here month of june.
Anything else I should know about the trip or visa?? Any tips and ides or recommendation will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Re: Canadian trip and Getting Canadian visa from USA vs from Pakistan
This is out of some friend's experience in the past,,,
To obtain Canadian visa in in the US is usually turned down on the basis that as to 'Why it was not obtained from the country of origin' question. (this was 2 years ago, so check on this again)
It is better and and darn decent to obtain Can Visa from Pakistan. (Should not have any problems as they have Multiple US visa which is a good reference),,,They usually give out 3 months so check what to do to get 6 months,,eg,,,, Maternity care, or some one sick and needs help 24/7 etc etc. in which case a year long visa is issued on passionate grounds.
I don't want to guess as to how long do they take in Pakistan to issue visa or the duration.
Good Luck!
