Re: canadian customs

I've ordered suits and jewelry from India ..and frankly, would never do it again.
However, if you ever do order anything from abroad, please ensure the following:

-the shipper writes ON THE BILL that the item being shipped is a GIFT and value is $60 or less. If you paid a lot more for your package, then for insurance purposes, you can claim the package at a lower value. Packages worth $60 or less will not be charged taxes/duties/etc by Canada Customs

-JEWELRY: either don't buy it from abroad, or just expect it to get stolen. When my package from India was given to the shipping office, the clerks at the office opened up my package, looked through it and took a set that I ordered. Luckily it was probably only worth 20 INR - but point is, your package will be opened, looked through to "ensure no illegal substances are being sent abroad" and then will re-seal it.

-Getting something shipped from the US? Ask your shipper to send the goods via USPS because the shipping price you pay will cover any brokerage fees in advance or so.
