Iranian ambition and its legitimate right to harness power through nuclear means has now been internationalized thanks to the mispropoganda by elements who had resorted to similar campaign of weapons of mass destruction to justify Iraq war.
Being a new Canadian I am proud to say that Canada possesses high quality nuclear technology to extract useful nuclear power without resorting to nuclear enrichment route. Yes, natural Uranium can be effectively utilized to generate power through Canadian designed nuclear reactor. Unfortunately this high tech accompishment of Canadian scientists were eclipsed by two super powers. This innovative high quality and extremely safe product never gained sufficient market to recover the development cost and hence became an unprofitable venture.
It will bring me a great personal delight if Canada offers to gift such a nuclear reactor to Iran so that it can abandon its Uranium enrichment route.
Being an Indian, I am disappointed that India which illicitly used Canadian supplied natural uranium to develop nuclear weapon and breached the international contract in 1974, participated in the voting. We, Indians have lost our moral rights to vote in such international forums which we ourselves violated.
As in management paralance, it’s often said that “Discipline comes from the top”. So it’s both super powers who should set an example by destroying their huge stock pile of nuclear weapons if they are sincere and genuinely interested to stop the profeleration of nuclear weapons. Then only we can expect our world to be free from this dangerous trend. Is anybody seeing the light at the end of the tunnel?

Iranian born Canadian journalist was not killed last year but in 2003. That's a separate story. What I mean to tell is that Canada as a neutral country is obligated to diffuse the tension and to promote international peace. This kind of gift will enhance the stature of Canadians in international community and more and more nations will look forward to Canada to resolve the bitter disputes which can otherwise threaten war.
