This is interesting! Every now and then this topic creeps up in America…some private/charter schools have the autonomy to do so and have, but I have yet to hear of this implemented in public schooling. Thoughts?
it’s just that summer is summer…they should have that time to do other things…

I’m quite conflicted on this.
I agree with how it’s easier for families where both parents are working and will need to arrange childcare but it’s a big change for the kids that are used to having the summer off.
And particularly difficult for kids in secondary school that have part-time jobs to fund their post-secondary education.
I think it will be harder for the parents to find child care for 2 weeks every semester than someone / daycare for a solid block of time 2-3 months and be done with it. What a nightmare.
I’m definitely against this. I’ve grown up in Canada and have done all my schooling here. Until I started College, there was nothing more exciting than the prospect of summer holidays.
