Canada is probably worse off in terms of job opportunities compared to US, partly because of great influx of highly educated immigrants, and partly because a large part of Canadian economy depends on US. With the current down turn in US economy, the ripple effect is felt in Canada as well.
However, the rest of your questions can be easily applied to anyone immigrating to any other country. Largely it depends on why you moved in the first place. For those who were struggling in Pakistan (economically), its probably not a bad idea to move to Canada. The worst that can happen is that they will struggle in Canada as well. Big whoop! However, for those who live nice comfy lives back in their homeland, the decision to move to Canada or anywhere else should be considered more carefully.
