TORONTO: Canada and India signed a landmark nuclear deal on Sunday, ending a quarter of a century of mistrust after India used Canadian technology to build its first nuclear bomb.
Aside from the United States, which spearheaded an international effort to bring back India to the nuclear trading club, New Delhi has atomic deals with such countries as France and Russia.

“There is absolutely no scope whatsoever of the nuclear materials or nuclear equipment in India being used for unintended purposes,” Singh said. -----

**1) India’s actions **belie her public statements.

2) This deal is a grave security threat to Pakistan.

3) Pakistan and China shoud finalize Nuclear deal ASAP.

4) Where is Washington based NSG now?

Re: Canada and India signed a "landmark" nuclear deal on Sunday

Pakistan should go ahead and sign deal with China for nuclear energy. Countries who don't like that warran panday wich.

Re: Canada and India signed a "landmark" nuclear deal on Sunday

India is going to use n fuel only to supply electricity. No need to worry.

You mean like before!

Re: Canada and India signed a "landmark" nuclear deal on Sunday

mo, India already has enough nuclear bombs to wreck havoc. I hope they are never used though.

The country is growing at a very fast pace. A LOTTT of small towns are developing into small cities and the demand for electricity is incredibly high. This is a good step by a developing country to meet its needs.

How it is security threat to Pakistan?
I mean India has sufficient nuclear material to bomb Pakistan and vice versa

Secondly, prime minister is absolutely correct in his assessment, India cant use this fissile material for military purpose as it has to follow IAEA safeguards even one single nuclear test means collapse of deal and all facilities going back

Refer this
India–United States Civil Nuclear Agreement - Wikipedia

Thirdly, India is growing at the rapid rate so it needs electricity, and this is for power generation purpose, that’s it

Washington based NSG has already granted waiver to India to start nuclear trade.

Good luck to Pakistan on civil nuclear deal with china, firstly Pakistan is needed to approach IAEA for approval and finally NSG to grant fissile materials trade, Chinese can help you in building nuclear material.

Nuclear fuel was never used in India to generate electricity, still it is just one percent share in total fuel generation of India, with commencement of all electricity generation by these reactors, the percentage is bound to use.

India doesn’t have dubious proliferation record; I mean none our scientist were caught in some secret nuclear trade with any country till date

That is not the point, unless you don't know how India managed to get its hands on nuclear weapons. Perhaps a good google search can shed some light.

Rest of the noise sniped for obvious reasons.

India acquired nukes by cheating and you saying it don't have dubious record.. LOL...

Re: Canada and India signed a "landmark" nuclear deal on Sunday

mo.. point is that a developing country is doing wht it needs to do to meet the huge electricity demand... a demand which will keep increasing at a rapid rate as various small cities spring up around the country..

when pakistan becomes a more responsible state they would probably be given the same treatment as well..

My developing country is doing what it needs to do.

V.

when Pakistan becomes a more responisble state...

I can bring in NPT, shed some light on Indian track record and expand volumes on the two above.. BUT oh well whats the point.

BTW, Just in case you don't know Pak has got the same treatement from Chini Bhai.. Its going ahead with two 650MW reactors.

P.S: Please don't confuse US interest with good behaviour.

oh ! we picked your weapons when you looked away !

we have hundreds of universities which teaches good physics and science,
do you know every year thousands of Indain scientists go to in particular to America and help in developing new technologies which find there way to American weapons and Americans sell them to Pakistan, its called cycle of truth!

Yeah sure, and dependent 100 percent for technology, speaks volumes. If that good start at home.

On second thought, your blabbering is completely off topic.

Re: Canada and India signed a "landmark" nuclear deal on Sunday

capacility and skills'wise Indians and Pakistanis are not very different - they are same roots and culture only till 60 or so years ago. But since independence India has focussed more on development but Pakistan has been severely distracted into other things that are not conducive for development.

It is a bit laughable to say either is great in technology or governance or sports or many other things.

For example, India's original research is miniscule and just showing signs of birth; there is no governanace to speak of - it is just running by power structures and corruption; country of 1billion cannot get even a double digit medal in international events. Abject poverty, lack of civic hygiene, hunger, illiteracy and caste politics are still significant.

Pakistan is only worse in all these spheres and some more.

So when Indians and Pakistanis discuss who is superior (I have also done it in my younger days) it is just empty argument for the sake of argument.

If at all, in my personal experience, there is any real difference between the two - I would say Indians have become a lot more hopeful and enjoy more freedoms.
