why did the news caster kept saying “Pakistan is ALMOST out of the WC”

Is there still a permutation combination
some hidden math - that would enable pakistan to squeeze through
IF they beat Zimbies

The ONLY possible permutation is if Ireland withdraws their team from the World Cup. Pakistan is in such a miserable situation that even if either Zimbabwe or West Indies withdraw their team, Pakistan will still be left out of Group 8.
