Can you raise an Olympian?

Parents of olympians are dedicated. From day one. Just looking at the Michael Phelps mom in the stands, you can tell that they are in it as much as their child is.

If your child had the potential, do you think you have what it takes to raise an Olympian?

Re: Dream of raising an Olympian?

Re: Dream of raising an Olympian?

I go with my kids to their soccer league, 5 days a week after long day at job (on weekdays). I run with them, I train them, I shout at them, I applaud them, I get angry when they make mistakes - Does this count?

:bummer:

PS: If IOC adds “dramey bazi” in the list of sports in Olympics. I have a ready made Olympian at home i.e my little princess. I see Gold for Canada/Pakistan in the event

Re: Dream of raising an Olympian?

I know I couldn't. I wouldn't be able to make the sacrifices that are needed with time commitment. I know it's sad :( Maybe because my parents weren't gave that much importance to competitive sport. They would drop us and pick us up but not for the duration.

I am envious of my aunt is a soccer mom of 4 boys. She gives it her all. Her day revolves around practices and training. She cheers and makes sure that my cousins know that she's there for them and she'll do everything to back their soccer career.
