Can You open a Euro Account in the USA?

hmm why do I have this feeling i’ve asked this before and didn’t get any response..

Re: Can You open a Euro Account in the USA?

I was actually wondering about this too. Do you need to have the account in the US or would an account in Europe somewhere be sufficient?

I found the following info on some site:
Barclay's appears to have an account international clients can open and a 5% yield, but in pounds

HSBC has a Euro deposit account, i think (I got tired of their attitude tho and closed my account there)

Lloyds TSB has an offshore option that can be denominated in Euros.

Another thing one can try is open a Euro account in Pakistan (I have a dollar account there currently) and keep the funds in there, don't know what the backup is there tho (ie. FDIC insurance).
