So can you?
I dont want to fry them purely because i would have to clean up the cooker but if i a good grill, can i cook the kebabs without the seekhs on a baking try on high heat?

Re: Can you make seekh kebabs on the grill but without the seekhs?
Yes , use aluminum foil, roll some up in round shape and use it as skewer and put it on the grill. Sometimes I do not feel like firing up the grill or the weather does not permit I use the oven to make seikhs kababs , sheesh kababs and bihari kababs that way.

Mirch Bhai, how do you mean "roll some up in round shape and use it as skewer and put it on the grill"?? I was thinking of just making them in long kebab shapes and putting them under high heated grill...
You can add a teaspoon of ground up Lapsang Souchong tea leaves to the meat to get a smokiness -- no one will know you didn't do them over charcoal ;)
Re: Can you make seekh kebabs on the grill but without the seekhs?
^ Wow!
Kebabs must not have seekhs, you must put a bone in it, its very traditional.
RH, being sarky again? :aq:
Well i made them last night, they turned out bit dry and not that juicy. I would stick to frying them if not being made over the BBQ.
When i opened the grill, whoooshh of smoke came out and into my hair…eww…the smell…yuck! Dont worry hair smells lush now…hehehe!

Yes , make a skewer out of aluminum foil. Next time I do that I will take pictures and upload them in this thread.
your method should work too. I have made seikh kababs that way too. But the key is the timing in your subsequent post you are saying that they turned out dry, that is what happens if you are not careful about the time they are in the oven.
Re: Can you make seekh kebabs on the grill but without the seekhs?
You are wrong, Mirch Sahib, Kebab me haddi honey chahye, not aluminium foil or anything else. (Pls excuse the urdu attempt if it is wrong, I often get the grammatical gendering wrong in this alien tongue).
Re: Can you make seekh kebabs on the grill but without the seekhs?
the metal skewer is ment to heat up and cook the meat from the inside while the out side gets the flame. That is the theory. :)
By all means cook them under the grill or in the oven without skewers, dont make them too fat. Raise them so they dont sit in there own fat dripping.
Why dont you want to use the skewer? Just use it they will come out perfect.

NadimNirvana, why do you rarely make an appearance on GS anymore?
OK , I am wrong and you are right although I do not know what you are trying to say. Whatever makes you happy , whatever rocks your boat is fine with me. ![]()
I have made seikh kabab this way many times and they turned out perfectly alright.
