Can you dance?

I can’t dance to save my life.

Can you?

And do you like any particular dance?

What type you recommend for beginners who want to stay fit and have fun at the same time?

Re: Can you dance?

I can move around in circles with my arms in the air. Does that count?

Re: Can you dance?

And why would you dance to stay fit? Doesn't aerobics do the same job? And cardio kickboxing?

Re: Can you dance?

i Can

Tango...i Can teach you

Re: Can you dance?

Depends on what kind of dancing. Straightforward aerobics and hip hop classes I'm not too bad at. But I recently downloaded zumba workouts which are supposed to burn up to 1000 calories in one hour. It is a latin-inspired dance fitness programme and it is all about the hip movement so I looked like a retard doing it! :o I haven't tried it again but if you keep at it your body will loosen up and you will get better.

Re: Can you dance?

Dancing is for kids......

(i regret the last misunderstanding regarding missing letters from the word 'kids......')

Re: Can you dance?

if wiggling around is considered dancing then yes :k337: if not then .. no :chai:

Re: Can you dance?

No doubt dancing is an amazing way to keep fit. Theres Hasan and Komal rizvis Bodybeats recreational fitness/dance studio a few blocks away that does just that. I must admit though, Initially I remember I was a little skeptical with the whole idea, not because I was in denial of what dance could do but much rather the investment that was going to go in. But boy was I corrected once I witnessed what the participants achieved, amazing transformations they were. Hence I have no firm reasons to believe the OP is not on the right track.

As a poster earlier suggested, it depends on what type of dance style you choose to follow. Some could be highly strenuous while some not so. Say for example, a style of ballet won’t burn as many calories as would a style/type of hiphop or jazz would burn.

Re: Can you dance?

Wiggling, skipping, twisting, turning, jumping will all make your heart beat go up. Therefore doesn’t matter if you consider it dancing or not, as long as you’re achieving your goals of burning calories there isn’t much to worry about. Who cares If anyone looks like a loony toony while doing it in their own private space. I’d just be thoroughly content as long as I’m burning them calories. Irrelevant but running after someone who messes up your trash cans is another way of burning calories. haha.

Re: Can you dance?

if its for fitness then does it matter how one appears dancing?

Re: Can you dance?

I can do bhangra

Re: Can you dance?

I loveeeeeee dance, it helps me freeing myself from stress and tension… depression!! particular dance depends on mood.. But.. the one i love most is, salsa!! awesome! :whistling:

Re: Can you dance?

It really does not matter what type of dance someone does to lose weight.

All it means is........ to burn the calories.

Re: Can you dance?

I took Zumba classes, they are SO much fun and a great way to stay fit!! But the thing about Zumba is, I think they only person who burns 1000 calories an hour is the instructor because you only really lose weight if you know the movements really well and can do it quickly. I did it for a few months and I still didn't feel like I got a good enough work out when compared to running for an hour. Mind you, I'm also really uncoordinated. But still, I wouldn't rely on just that for weight loss.

Re: Can you dance?

^ Exactly, the form does matter in relation to how many calories you burn. A simple robotic march isn't going to burn as many calories as the salsa march in which your arms, abs, hips and legs are fully engaged. That is why I haven't tried zumba again, I'm working on my flexibility with yoga as well as trying to lose a stone with Jillian's workouts after which I may give zumba a go again when I am in better shape.
