Can you buy posters & post cards of Muhamed in Iran?

^ :bukbuk: True. Whatever else Jesus looked like we know he wasn’t a paleface with blue eyes and blonde hair. Yet what to do you see in 90% of his statues and potraits? Thanks Leonardo not decaprio.

Anyway, let’s see if we can turn this into a useful k.t thread.

Why do muslims believe their religion prohibits idols and paintings or God? I know the H.Koran says that, but why does it say that? What is wrong if somebody uses their God given imagination and visualizes? I don’t understand the root cause for the rule. I asked somebody and the best they could come up with was “to avoid the possibility of the idol object being mistaken to be God instead of the God the idol represents”. That sounds pretty labored as a rationale for such a strongly held belief.

what do you think?
