Re: Can you be a flight attendant and a mom?
I have a friend in Pakistan and both of her parents are flight attendants. It can work, just takes a lot of careful planning. They have 4 kids in total, 3 are 16+ and the youngest is 8.
Re: Can you be a flight attendant and a mom?
When I was little and everyone else was dreaming of being a doctor this was my dream job :D
What exactly is so scandalous about serving tea and chatting to strangers (whilst jetting round the world for free) anyway??
Re: Can you be a flight attendant and a mom?

Re: Can you be a flight attendant and a mom?
I could be wrong but most airlines would not hire a female with kids. Sure they can't stop their existing employee from having a baby but they have a choice to not go for a person who already has serious other commitments in life, because the training period and first few months of your job can be very demanding. Besides, not sure about current day PIA but 20+ years ago, their selecting process was just short of a beauty pageant.
Re: Can you be a flight attendant and a mom?
yes you can.......obviously if the kids and spouse don't want you around at home too much...

Once they reach 8, boys don't feel the need to be with their mother 24/7. Obviously, if the spouse depends on you for everything (food, ironed clothes etc) he will need you at home all the time.

One of my oldest ever friends mother was one, she had 3 sons. The youngest at the time being 9-10 years old. She used to attend international flights only (Not PIA). Although she was an highly successful individual professionally, her personal life apparently did suffer. Although I don't see a perfect reason as to why, because she did really come across as this really sweet, down to earth sort of a woman/parent who'd never forget to call us up whenever she'd be back so she could fill our tummies up with the awesomest of chocolates and gifts she could find. She though, was divorced and one of the son's committed suicide (early 20's) while she was on duty. She worked for the airlines for as long as I can remember, late 30's or even mid 40's. One part of me tells me, maybe the son might've not gone to the extent he did if she was around to hear him out. The other tells me, you cant really stop death from scooping you about. He was meant to go, and he did. Mum there or not. May Allah swt bless his soul nonetheless.
Then there's this another high school friend who attended flights for 7-8 years (Emirates). She is the only child of her family. Needless to say she quit her job (at 29) and returned to Pak once she realized it was about time she spent time with her ailing parents. Another reason being her wanting to start up her own family.
As long as you're aware every profession has its ups and downs, I guess people manage alright.

Re: Can you be a flight attendant and a mom?
way back in 1980's near my nani's house there used to live a lady who used to work as flight attendant and also had a son and she was managing being both a flight attendant and a parent.
I know someone whose sister was a single parent to a young girl and she was too was working as flight attendant with aero asia. if single parents can manage then why not parents who are married though it's very difficult.
