When you are doing Tawaf you are srrounded with Na Mehrams, Only travel and stay is not allowed without Mehram.
One can allocate the sawab of his/her Ibadat to any one. This will be on top of reward you get from it. There is no restriction of Mehram in it.

I'm not saying this the basis for it, but if we think about doing du'a for someone, we are restricted to doing du'a for Muslims, and the only du'a we can do for non-Muslims is for Allah to give them guidance. When we meet anyone even if they are non mahram we say Salam ... So since no one questions saying Salam or du'a for a non-mahram why question tawaf

Regarding this there is a stricter opinion that no, but yes I tend to do the du'a of shifa for non-Muslim friends too ... :) But not all du'a are applicable for them

Somehow it doesn't make sense to me.
It is up to Allah to judge who is qualified for his rehmat. How can I say oh let me not pray for my Hindu friend who is so kind to me and is going through financial hardships, for example. Perhaps that one act of care may draw that person towards my religion (if that is our priority as muslims). But Islam is based on common sense principles so saying that all dua'a are not applicable seems strange.

It's okay if they are still alive ... and yes your statements are right about doing du'a for dunya purposes, but it would be inappropriate to do du'a for their mughfirah (forgiveness) when alive or in death, but we can seek their guidance in our du'a.

Depends on one's intentions I guess...I don't think we can compare our dua to a prophet's dua.
Praying to God for a person's well being or maghfarat who doesn't even believe in God doesn't make sense to me.
