I have christians neighbors, they know we are muslim and do not eat pork or consume alcohol.
If they give us food like dessert, vegetarian food or halal meat (non-zabiha) can we eat that food ? Do we need to be concern about pots and pans used to make that food.
Dont we buy our food from non-Muslims all the times? We buy cakes and bagels and donuts and all such from non-Muslim shops. Why a Christian neighbor should be any different than the christian shop owner?
Are you kidding me? Next time they dare to make a friendly effort, just tell them off. Let them know that we Muslims take these kinds of affronts very seriously and any future attempts at innocuous neighorhood welcome will be escalated to the neighborhood watch. I tell you these non-Muslims never learn!
When Prophet was given poison by a jew woman, if I remember correctly, he was invited at her place on a dawat and was eating that food. Regardless of what that woman did with that food (added poison in it), it clearly shows that its ok to eat food prepared by non-muslims (as long as its halal for us to eat)

We buy zabiha meat for ourselves.
Avoid the meat, although Islam allows you to eat meat that has been slaughtered by one from the ehle kitaab if meat from a muslim butcher isn't available. But everything else, why not? You do buy groceries from nonMuslim stores don't u?
Ok, I should have put the reference of the thread here. One about the pots and pans being clean or not.
I eat the food if given to me. I think halal meat is alo ok to eat if offered.
As that thread was talking about unclean pots that have been used for pork etc I asked here.
of course...Islam does NOT want to put you in an unnecessary difficulties. If you do NOT see anything which is against Islam then yes you can eat...BUT, you must tell your friend ONCE what is forbidden in Islam and tell him to keep that in mind when they serve you food. i'm sure any decent person will respect that. if someone feeds you something that you didn't know about, then you are off the hook. Allah woill inshaa Allah NOT hold you accountable for something you didn't know.
in Islam, unnecessary inquisitions is discouraged...the reason being that Allah will ignore and forgive you for sins committed unknowingly as a benefit of doubt.....bekaar kii tajassus ko Islam meN saraahaa nahiiN jaataa.

I read your comment in that thread.
See the thing is, if you suspect the pot being napaak, then it does not matter if it belongs to a Muslim or a non-Muslim. If it looks paak, then also it does not matter if it belongs to a Muslim or a non-Muslim.
Someone please correct me, but I remember a hadeeth where Prophet said (paraphrasing) that 'if a piece of bread falls out of your hand on the floor, and floor looks dry and clean, pick the piece up, bush any dust off, and eat it'. You think that any pot would at least be cleaner than a regular floor? I like to believe that. When prophet told us to literally eat the food off the floor, why cant we eat it from an obviously clean pot.
i forgot to add one impoortant point in my previous post and that is...your decisions must be based on facts/educated guesses and not on suspicions/perceptions because you have the benefit of doubt. i'm basing this on the Hadees which summarily says any place is PAAK to pray on if you do NOT see any Ghalazat. If you see it, remove it, wash it and then use it.
