Colorful. Impactful.

Re: Can we call this art

Nikki baji, I personally think good cooking in general is art and should be treated as art. Now as far as the presentation is concerned, for some people it is art and for others it is just food. Anything can be art, it is how you look and perceive it.

my two cents... :D

Re: Can we call this art

this is art

so is this

this is just presentation

Presentation IMO is just so you don’t go YUCK when you eat food. The art is in the cooking.

Re: Can we call this art

All this food is making me hungry.

culinary art :)that means person who is cooking becomes performing artist!

wow…

yummy

no necessarily. the artist is probably behind the counter, or behidn the door, practicing his art without a big hoopla or audience. it’s just how he can use the ingredients, or the material to make a spectacular dish.

i know eh! and it’s all edible :jano: though why ever would you want to eat that?

Re: Can we call this art

Have you guys see the cooking/baking shows where these guys make incredible edibles that require painting and airbrushing?

Re: Can we call this art

ace of cakes! it's my favorite food network show, right after good eats.

most of the guys that work in that bakery are artists. hence all that artisticness...

Re: Can we call this art

Oh yeah, I love ace of cake, the cakes they make are amazing and literally pieces of art. I also like those foodnetwork cake compeitions where bakers decorate cakes on different themes.

Re: Can we call this art

These are amazing, and these bakers are truly artists. Wow!

Re: Can we call this art

absolutely, when cooked food is presented in a decorative way, adds to appetite.

I was googling and came across this paper made with food imprints. This is what the description said:

“Crafted in Germany, these sheets of fruit and vegetable papyrus are made from ultra-thin slices of real produce. Carrot paper, above, is stunning when illuminated, as are the blood orange and cucumber papers. They would look great in a kitchen window or make a fine material for a food-inspired lamp shade (for you crafty types out there). More variations, including kiwi, persimmon, and eggplant, are available, among others at Hiromi Paper.”
