I have not used a debit card as a credit card in a long time. These days I use a credit card as a credit card ;-)

If you pay your statement balance in full at the end of the month and, more importantly, are good about managing expenses, it is fine to use a credit card.

One difference between credit and debit cards is how merchants process it, and fees that are assessed to them. Credit cards usually have higher fees and usually a special terminal or a special accessory is needed to process a debit card as a debit card, which not all merchants purchase.

If you have to explicitly specify whether you are using a debit card or a credit card, I would try specifying it as a credit card.

Also, the code that it requests is likely the PIN.

Before doing either of the above, I would first call the bank who issued the debit card to ask whether it can be used in this manner and, if it is not currently set up to be, whether it can be set up to do so.

your debit card isn't your visa card. i dunno why the banks here put the word VISA on the debit cards here...it makes no sense, and i don't wanna know either. but the main point is, it's not a credit card. it's just a debit card. a credit card is either a VISA (the real thing, with the logo and 4 digit authority code and everything) or a MASTERCARD. there are like 2 other kind, but they aren't that common :o you have to get a proper credit card from your bank (most common and best way to get a credit card from). that way, you can pay off your shopping within 3 days of using the credit card.

Anokha let’s just say I do not like credit cards and do not want one. I had one by my old bank Mashreq but switched accounts to NBD and over here dad is not allowing me to get one. So for now I will keep on using Debit Card. Agar kuch online chahiye so I will just use dad’s credit card number:halo:
