Can someone come BACK to islam ?

Allah forgives and Allah is the best of all masters.

If a man were to leave islam, or denounce it, and later learn the error of his ways and come back to it and repent, and also feel guilty, would he be forgiven ?

What if a man commited shirk, but in his life time realized that he was wrong and asked for forgiveness.

The reason why i ask is that it is said that all sins except Shirk are forgiven. Im not too clear on weather this means once a man commits shirk he’s bound forever to hell, or weather if he dies without repenting, then he cannot be forgiven ?

Allaah will Forgive a person if he apostated and then repents sincerely, leaving his previous sins and abandoning them, and increases in righteous deeds.

One of the most beautiful and amazing 'Ayah's in this regard is the following, it is breath taking:

And those who invoke not any other ilaah (god) along with Allaah, nor kill such life as Allaah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment.

The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace;

Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allaah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Al-Furqan 25:68-70)

Subhan-Allaah

The Mercy and Favours of Allaah are amazing.

Qur'an: "Say: "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins." (39:53)

The matter of shirk not being forgiven is if a person dies in a state of shirk... in such instances shirk is not forgiven... however, if a person repents before death then the above verse applies.

Apostacy is crime but there is no compulsion in religion.

If the intention is sincere then forgiveness should be looked for Allah(swt) knows best.
