As long as the saree itself is not bulky, i think she can pull it off. I would suggest materials like chiffon, silk, mysore crepe - avoid too much kaam, avoid georgette, tissue/organza as it adds to the bulk. If the material is good, even tucking it in a lot will not make it appear bulky. I think the average height in india is like 5'1 or 5'2 and people wear sarees all the time there of standard length, so i think the lenght is fine for her. Also, I hope she is not 37 lbs, that;s like seriously underweight.

I’m 5"3 and 40kg, and i don;t at all look weak, i feel pretty healthy. though people keep telling me i’m too weak or bla bla…

Well no worries, better be underweight and look "normal" after getting married after putting on 20-30 kg than be healthy now and become a dreaded aunti... :p

I am of the opinion that as long as the outfit is a GOOD FIT and has been made well, then you can wear anything. Short girls always worry about wearing saris or maxi dresses, my sister is quite petite (around 5'0 and really skinny) and she wouldn't wear these styles before. I made her try on a few maxis and long kameezes and she loved the look, cos it was tailored well.

Obviously this isn't just for skinny or short girls, it applies for anything. As long as the outfit is not too tight/loose and is in a flattering shape it should be fine. saris are one of those things which suit a lot of people, and make larger girls look curvy in a flattering way.I have soooo many bengali friends who can rock the sari, most of em are short and not all of them are skinny

taller or not, only girls with curves (especially some meat on bum) look good in saari.

Riya Sen or Rani Mukherjee are short and they wear low rise saris. I don’t know how they do it but if you know tricks of the trade then anything is possible I guess.
Ideally though sari looks good on average height. Not too tall and not too short. Kareena looks good in a sari while Deepik who is gorgeous looks like a baans in it.
