Re: Can Pakistan wrest Kashmir from India?

Reduzijuice, Faris: I respect what you say - but things are way too complicated.
Plebisite is not going to happen, nor will Independence be granted by either of the countries.
India & Pakistan have already invested too much money and lost too many lives (soldiers & Civilians).
There is also a problem about the (Refugees) Hindu Kashmiri Pundits & refugees in Azad Kashmir.
Than there is China, now holding a part of Kashmir.
And no I do not consider Gilgit & Baltistan part of Kashmir.

Yeah fair points. I still feel that both countries have behaved stupidly, if they had the sense in the first place there would never have been a partition of such a great nation just think what a united subcontinent could achieve, or if not united under one faith or political system they could still be a federation of independant nations working together.
For all the bad about historical kingdoms and princely states at least they got along with each other most of the time and any intermitant warfare was ussually fought over resources by just soldiers on a seasonal basis often mines and rivers changed hands several times or marked natural boundaries.
I'm not a supporter of fuedalism but hell those complex historical systems sure as hell worked and if we went back to them it cant be as bad as now anyway.
As for Kashmir I cant see either nation letting go, hence my usual anology of two bald fellahs fighting over a comb.
