So I’ve always had oily hair, there’s not much I can do about it. I used to shampoo every day but then found out thats bad for your hair so now I just shampoo 2 or 3 times a week even though after the first day my hair looks horrible. I used to have much nicer hair, obviously as I’ve aged, its gotten finer, and less voluminous. However, whenever I use Nizoral, which I use once every 2 weeks or so for dandruff, my hair feels great. My scalp feels clean, there’s lots of bounce in my hair, I love the way it looks. But I’ve heard that using Nizoral as a regular shampoo is really bad for your hair, does anyone know if thats true? And also if there is, is there another shampoo like Nizoral which would make my hair feel the same way?
When I’m not using Nizoral, I use an organic clarifying shampoo by a canadian brand called Live Clean. With that shampoo my hair feels limp. I’ve tried their volumizing shampoo too but it still feels the same.
It is quite good for oily hair, but its expensive. The large bottle is about $30 (Canadian). It thoroughly cleans the scalp, and gives volume as well.*
I wouldn't ever recommend using Nizoral regularly. By doing so you will encourage your body to build up an immunity to it and when you really need to treat your dandruff it will no longer work effectively.
There are many other clarifying shampoos available at beauty supply stores that you can try instead of the one that you have been using. Perhaps another brand or combination will suit you better.
Try to find sample or travel sizes so that you can try before you invest in an entire bottle.
I guess Ill keep looking. I try to stay away from shampoos with sulfates coz they're supposed to be irritating so thats also why its a little harder to find an organic shampoo that makes my hair feel as great. Thanks for the advice!
