and does anyone even bother with doing that?
I know you can have Urdu language enviornment in Windows XP, Linux, etc, but can one actually learn about it in Urud?
Are there books for the MCSE written in Urdu? How about for C or Java?

Re: Can IT/Computing be studied and done in Urdu?
Yes... I think I saw some books in some book shops in Urdu. BUT...... I dont think its a Help COZ...
All the Terminology is in English, its only good for people who cant understand Englihs Language. Technicaly English and Urdu Books are the same.
Re: Can IT/Computing be studied and done in Urdu?
even if you can, it might be a bad idea. that's what happened to the Chinese - they translated all science to chinese ... next thing you know, India clobbered them in IT because of English
Re: Can IT/Computing be studied and done in Urdu?
Yes it can be studied, and softwares can be made to have an Urdu interface and Urdu language processing. It is costly, time-consuming and mainly has very limited potential market.
Chinese are getting enough for their efforts in their country, they don't need to export. China is amongst one of the biggest consumer markets.
Re: Can IT/Computing be studied and done in Urdu?
^ true BUT...china has such a huge population that they can and need as many exportable things as they can find. Lack of english skills is one big reason why India was able to leapfrog them first in body shopping, then software & IT and now in call ctrs, BPO, medicine to name a few.
A number of Chinese govt offocials have vowed that they will catch up with India within the next few years...catch up in what? exports man, exports
Re: Can IT/Computing be studied and done in Urdu?
^ China have big units operating in every sector (This includes IT). They are producing more than the needs of China and thus China is interested in exporting after some years.
Chinese is a dominant language in China and English will not be encouraged nationwide. Most software can be converted across language and region with very little knowledge of that language.
Re: Can IT/Computing be studied and done in Urdu?
^ That's a bit inaccurate. China has a stated goal to surpass India in SW exports within 7 years. You think they're going to be able to do that using only Chinese?
Also, the market span for Chinese and Urdu are nothing to be compared

Re: Can IT/Computing be studied and done in Urdu?
I interpreted your view as "Chinese don't need English" - if that's not what you said, your pique is warranted
Re: Can IT/Computing be studied and done in Urdu?
I said Chinese don't need "English" in China, like Germans don't need English in Germany. If Chinese are planning to export software to markets that require English, they can hire some extra staff to convert their chinese software to English.
It is not very un-common in IT business to transform English software to German, French, Italian,... to market it in those markets.
