Can India-Pakistan talks succeed?

Re: Can India-Pakistan talks succeed?

Pakistan will not let go of the Kashmir issue, and India will not discuss the Kashmir issue so there is no way the talks can succeed.

No chance, until India changes its behavior starting with renouncing terrorism and then the core issue.

This (renouncing terrorism) has become more like a propaganda tool then anything else … even today when Bashir sahib came for talks … he should have at least brought the “photographic” evidence … instead he brought rhetoric, which is never helpfull. But at the end of the day talks surely are benefical as they also expose what the "other"side has to offer.

India supplies weapons to Pakistani terrorists: Bashir- Hindustan Times

Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir told reporters here that there was “clear evidence of (Indian) activities prejudicial to Pakistan’s security being undertaken from foreign soil, including efforts at destabilization, supply of weapons to militants and terrorists”.

We have ample evidence, including photographic evidence, of these activities."

Mr. Bashir forgot that he was participating in a high level meeting. He ruined the whole purpose of the meeting. As AB said, Pakistanis have anything to share, they should have shown in the meeting. That is the purpose of the talks.

Unless Pakistanis chanage their attitude of threatening, nothing moves an inch. Pakistanis are taking Mumbai incident so easy. They are forgetting that men came from their country and kiiled Indian nationals. Had it happened otherwise, I would have seen insane comments all over this forum.

It is a futile exercise unless peace is restored in kashmir.

Re: Can India-Pakistan talks succeed?

Not at all, it is just waste of time, Indians are on the table because USA wants them to be there... if only media shall be benefited, now they have got lots of stuff to discuss, lots of analyst to call on and get their expert opinions... thats all

Leadership of both side is stupid and naive...

Re: Can India-Pakistan talks succeed?

why are you guys wasting time? the only talks India has said they will permit are about how Pakistan is going to curn and eradicate terrorism emanating from there.

Re: Can India-Pakistan talks succeed?

Nothing new. These talks aka gupshup has been going on since 1950s.

When India was weak without banihal tunnel, it went straight to UN, with dhoti flying high exposing the skinny behind to the whole world, crying bachao, bachao, Pakistan jaalim hai.

Once the tunnel was complete (around 1952), then the UN resolution wasn't needed and thus got shredded by the Indian government.

Since the banihal tunnel's completion, India has strong hand in the form of superior fire power and actual control of the real estate. And it ain't budging (and why should it?)

Pakistan unfortunately has to rely on methods that have been used by anyone with weaker hands since the time of Adam and Eve. These methods are: Bluff (Accuse India for supporting terror in Pak), or use underhand means (use militancy in Indian Kashmir).

If we by some act of magic, reverse the situation, would India use the same methods as Pak are using now?

You bet your dhoti, shalwar or jeans, Yes! and they used the terror with gusto in Nizami H-abad, J Garh, and BDesh.

Can Pakistan change the game plan and some how acquire a stronger hand, absolutely!

Will Pakistan be able to acquire the stronger hand? No. at least not until the Islamo-fascism is in the driver seat.

p.s It is in Pakistan's benefit to continue shouting for the "talk-talk, tea parties, paan masalah" with India. However it should never get flustered and rely on military solution or militancy.

Wow, Burqa..I am reasonably impressed at your assessment. I agree completely, and there is no doubt they have the stronger hand.

How can we pose an effective response? I say we can only rely on the Isreali strategy of strong economic growth along with superior technological capabilities to outmatch our eastern neighbor. More importantly we need to reestablish brand 'Pakistan.' Look at many of these Indians, they are almost blind in their patriotism for India and yet we sit here criticizing Pakistan, bring ourselves down when we should be focused on strengthening the fatherland.

I agree, lets continue this farce of 'talks' with no results.

Thank you!

---- Pakistan has to evolve Pakistani strategy for sure. Israeli strategy is unique to their circumstances, so it won't work. They face some of the most third rate opponents in the world. We however have a very strong and smart neighbors like India and China, so we must figure out things for our surroundings.

And what is that effective response you mentioned?

Actually no response at all! Yes. It is counter intuitive, but it will work.

When we get bogged down in the "effective responses", we become like them! Just Indians.

And that my friend allows them to control our mind, and our maneuvers. And thus we end up doing their work in Pakistan, instead of doing Pakistan's work.

We need to respond to just one need! and the rest of it will be taken care of.

And that thing is to make Pakistan, the most humble and loving country.

That means love between each other, and love for everyone. Be it was enemy or friend. As long as that person doesn't PHYSICALLY there to harm us, we give love.

Sort of Jesus Christ's approach - When someone hits us on one cheek, we move the other cheek to him/her.

We maintain our strong DEFENSIVE force, and it is strong already so it is not hard to just maintain the defensive posture.

But we ought to quit supporting anyone who doesn't believe in the fundamental truths, and love, and harmony and respect for others. That means any kind of ruthless Talib business is out, and volunteerism is in.

Once we become humble to ourselves, to Pakistanis in Pak, and to everyone in the world regardless of their religion or race, we will then become strong from inside. Not strong for them bombs and guns (we already have them), but strong due to character.

And that will be the first step towards making our beautiful country strong.

Until India stops interfering in Balochistan ----- NWFP ----- Afghanistan and categorically demilitarizes Kashmir ----- there should be absolutely no talks ----- PERIOD. Be as tough with them as you can ----- and if they still want to talk make them come to Pakistan -----

Re: Can India-Pakistan talks succeed?

^^

Also India should stop arming the Taliban. Recently I heard that mullah omar was an Indian agent.

Pakistanis should stop trying to scream with their head in mud..if pakistani jihadis murder indian civilians again like mumbai. India should block water to pakistan much as they can. There has to be a price that pakistan pays for murdering indians in cold blood.

you should not forget export of explosives as cited already on the forum

You guyz should not forget most important evidence... uncircumcized terrorost dead bodies.

Re: Can India-Pakistan talks succeed?

^^^freakin too much evidence for indian involvement already...nuke india, what say? Zaid hamid believes in nuking
india right away but launching conventional weapon missiles on israel..both together or one at a time? Thoughts?

It is time you realize the atrocities commited by Pakistani rulers in Balochistan, once that is done, things will fall into place. Looks like the president of Pakistan is hinting towards that.

DAWN.COM | Provinces | Zardari offers talks to exiled Baloch leaders

The president said the government would remove the distrust by resolving longstanding issues and solving problems to bring Balochistan at par with other provinces and developed areas.

You have to settle the issue with the local population of Balochistan …blaming India did not help the “last time” nor will it help in future !!!

Once again Burqa is spot on.

But how about improving economic ties and cultural ties. Do you think this is going to improve things.

We need to improve economic and cultural ties with everyone including the Americans and Europeans and Africans and Asians etc.

We cannot have one set of cultural ties with India and a different set for others.

Love and respect and being humble is universal in nature.

If we practice this golden principle, then Pakistani character will improve, and it will make us stronger in the whole international arena (and not just India).
