all countries do that. India atleast competes to get better on economic status. Pakistan unfortunately competes with the likes of Afghanistan for the wrong kind of superiority.

India at the very most will become a a large regional player. I can't see them ousting the Chinese on the Economic or Political front.

Besides we know exactly where India stands when it comes to REALcompetition. The latest (GHI) Global Huger Index and host of other reports either put India below North Korea or below Sub Saharan Africa that is the gist of your competiotin as we speak....

nope India can not overtake China . There are certainly some sectors in which India is excelling but being a layman what I have observed they are very very good at marketing their products but their products don't match up with the standards. I have used many many FMCG here in Pakistan and abroad they are not good at all.

Actually India has overtaken China a long time ago in several very important matters such as freedom, human rights and political system. China is ahead in terms of economics because they used the iron-fisted communistic control to create a state-owned export infrastructure using state sanctioned slave labor. Big deal. Don't also forget the draconian Chinese state policies such as one-child or jail. In fact they will pay for that dearly in due course in terms of population age demography.

They have of late realized the folly of how they created this economic advantage while ruining their great ancient civilization and how people feel and live and that is to their credit.

India and China will at some point in time lead the world, without being confrontational. I hope America, Russia and Africa in most parts can participate too

What good is such a list? Anyway,I'll give you one example: Pakistan used to claim their military is superior and that each of their soldiers equal 10 of others. Yet it is this super army that hadn't been able to protect it's own cities villages and mountains from being bombed with impunity.

But India's aspirations to become a developed country, backed up by the growth momentum and size, vault it to top 10, then 5 then 3. So they have earned the right for that boast.

Whether India overtakes China or not is besides the point. India will be among the top 3 economies of the world in the next couple of decades and I think thats pretty creditable for a nation thats been around for just 60+ years :k:

How has india been around for just 60 years? We could say that about Pakistan in the sense that all the major industries and population centers were in mainland india, but still things weren't in a vacuum.

Modern India that we see today has been around for 64 years - prior to that we were ruled by the British for 100+ years. Any progress (or lack thereof) before independence was due to the British. The British looted a lot of wealth from India during their rule and left us worse than when they had come in.

And Pakistan is no different. There were many prosperous areas in West Punjab prior to partition that Pakistan got.
