that ruling as far as my knowledge goes applies to both first and last names. if the meaning of your first name is not appropriate, change it. keep your last name.
and a lot of east europeans have anglacized versions of those names that stem from hebrew :)

Our Muslim names are our first identity of being muslim. If we can not make our identity known at the first step, then, gradually, we will start losing muslims in the Ummah.
Keep your names Muslims and be proud of them.
