In that case they are eligible for khums which is a far bigger portion of money than the mandatory zakat. For example, I pay close to a $1,000 zakat annually but my** khums is about 3 times** of that which is exclusive for the sadat.

Isnt it 8 times ?

Zakat is 2.5 % while Khums i 20% rite ?

Syeds r not eligible for (BOTH) Zakat and Sadqa rite ?
Now abt Sadqa i have heared, SYED CAN take saqa from SYED but NOT from NON SYED ,… does same apply to Zakat ?

Nabaigh, We Certainly pay Zakat to make ALLAH j.j and His Prophet s.a.w happy. Why would u pay Zakat against the teaching of Prophet s.a.w ? If you think, Prophet s.a.w DID ALLOW sadqa and Zakat on Syeds, can you please provide us a reference ?

TLK… IF you give him money saying, it is zakat or Sadqa he will most likely return it saying, we rnt allowed to take Sadqa or Zakat.

Also, the title is wrong, Syed doesnt have to be a shia… I think most of Syeds from my village r sunni, if not most than atleast 40% r sunni.
