can anyone suggest me??

i m taking admission in Masters program for Business Administration, there is something i m worried about, can anyone suggest me please.

infact, i want to do executive/elective MBA, some of my family members say, go for the 2year program, but due to the gap of a year or two, i dont want to take it too longer where as i have opportunity to go for a year program… what should i do? will it be helpful for me, or it has no value, yes i have 2year working experience, rest, my friend is suggesting me for Marketing, but i think i should go for Finance… what will be most valueable and appropriate for me, i need a quick response, as my admission date is already there…

Re: can anyone suggest me??

beter go for 2 year MBA .. executive MBA stands no where ..when u start classes u wont care abt its year or 2 … u cant even learn basis in 1 year … 1 year is too short to get such degreee … bter go for HRM or Finance … Marketing job is quite tough n gals prefer to go for Finance or HR :chai:

Re: can anyone suggest me??

Executive MBA programs are targetted towards people who have much more work experience than the average graduate student.

I'm not sure where you're applying but the average work experience for executive MBA programs here is around 8 - 10 years.

With 2 years of experience, you're better off with a regular MBA program where you will have the opportunity to learn through full length curriculums while interacting with students who have a range of experiences.

In my opinion, you'll feel out of place in an Executive MBA program.

As far as concentration options go, both Marketing and Finance are good fields to get into... it depends on your interests and aptitude.

ditto... especially with all the courses, cases, projects, deliverables, and deadlines, time will fly!!

Meena - With two years of experience under your belt, you should go for the highest ranking MBA that you can get in to. Concentrate on the top 20 MBA Programs and start preparing for your GMATs and Admission Essays.

Executive MBAs have been traditionally geared towards people whose companies are paying for their MBA. Most of these folks don't change employers after the MBA so EMBA programs traditionally aren't known for their Job Placement Programs. However, more and more people who can't commit to a full time program 'cause of financial or family commitments are opting for an EMBA so their placement programs are getting better.

In Short, I wouldn't worry about an EMBA at this stage. You should concentrate on getting in to the best B school possible. Don't worry about the 100K + tab too much 'cause you can get a loan and the job you get after a top 10 MBA will be more than enough to recover the cost.

Sir/Madame - Please verify your facts. If this is just an opinion, put a disclaimer in BOLD before passing your bias on to others.

thanks :)

Re: can anyone suggest me??

I see you are in Pakistan.I think you should go for the 2 year MBA program as in Pakistan they see what you studied and what you studied a lot. Also, check to see what field you like the most, Finance or Marketing.I have an MBA in Marketing but its because I like that feild. Its good if you like meeting people etc. For Finance its more of a desk job but carrer opportunites may be more in Finance. Not esentially, but that's the average I am talking about.

Re: can anyone suggest me??

ok- yes i will go for Finance :)
