Can anyone explain this to me???

Tendulkar’s Scores in last one years.

**
In test matches : 8,51,9,32,8,7,55,1,0,1
Average: 17.2
**

**
In onedayers : 52 ,36 ,81 ,152 ,50 ,98  ,5 ,97 ,15 ,83 ,4 , 48* ,100 , 68 ,14 ,89 ,102 , 45
Average : 67
**

Whats is wrong here.
Is he out of form?
Just unlucky?
just matter of time?
or anything else..
have never seen so much contrast in anyone’s batting in 2 forms of cricket.

Your comments please.

Simple... he likes opening the batting.

Should we send him to open in Tests also. :rotfl:

What is the problem with that. I think it will be a great move. If that jaat Sehwag (who does not know the diff between One Day and Test) can open, I am sure Tendulkar can do much better.

When he recovers and explodes I pity the opposition. I hope he does it against the Aussies and not Pakistan. For selfish reasons I would like his current test form to continue till after the tour of Pakistan. :D

On a serious note it is very odd the contrast in his batting between tests and ODI's. Maybe he is feeling the pressure too much in the tests. maybe he should take a break from tests for a while. Whether moving up to the opening slot in tests is the answer I am not sure. The two games are vastly different and therefore one cannot say with cetainty that he would suceed in that spot in tests as well.

the performance says that hes not a test player anymore:snooty:

Some1's right - Tendu likes to open in tests too. He gets confused when he has to come at 3 down and cannot map the situation - should he be aggressive? Should he be circumspect? Number 4 is such an awful position. The match is hanging precariously and no.4 knows he's gonna get blamed for anything that goes wrong.

The answers simple. Let Sachin open and shift Viru to 4. Viru doesn't think. You put him at 1, 4 or 11, he'll come and play the same way.

for such a great player ... confused? abit shocking i say. the great players r able to handle the pressure and can answer the questions u asked........................... :p

^ Great players are human too. There’s no need to stick you tongue out. :snooty:

very cute pinches cheeks :p

oh well, anyways it shows that he is only human and if he has a weakness, he doesnt rise to the occassion frequently and in crunch situations he rarely sparks.

Oh come on indians .... man he going through a bad patch in tests so stop lamenting over and over ..... Matchwinner or not ..... different ppls/papers have different understandings of a Matchwinner ..... OK he is important to India's batting but it proves once again there r also others who by far don't get the same "god-like" status but perform on regular intervals ..... no need to remind of whom i mean hereby ..... So this thread is more about Austrlia vs. India than Sachin's bad patch/out of form etc. etc.

F&B try to be grateful for what he has done sofar for Indian cricket and maybe capable of doing in near future ..... no need to post here his past scores in Tests ..... almost every halfway follower of indian cricket knows that

U ppl (with that i mean also the bashing media of India) give him god-like status but once he fails (because he human) u begin to lament and comeup with comments like he is no matchwinner ..... have alook at urself how quickly u change ur colours (shows how grateful u ppl are)

Improve your english. Go over my post again and may be you will know if i am bashing it or i am doing something else.

I just tried to highlight great contrast in his ODI and test performance.

If we want to reach the heights the Aussies have touched we have to get back to thinking it is a game played by a team of 11.While obsessing with Tendulkar and making him nervous in the process, we also fail to deal correctly with the others.

Yet, by sheer overwhelming performance Dravid keeps us floating. Ganguly, Sehwag, Laxman, Khaif...even Yuvraj (where are those two btw?) ...somebody shines when needed.

I am impressed by the number of youngsters / newbies being tried; Irfan, Parthiv, Nehra, Ramesh, Karthik etc. Some great talents in the pipeline.

I cannot explain Agarkar - what do we keep him in for?

Bhajju - now what's with this great spinner? Why has he lost the edge? Of all the mysteries in cricket, this one I cannot get over. As big a mystery as Schin's test trend

No one can. Just like we couldn't explain Afridi. :D

i dont think that there is any thing real serious that needs to be addressed so far tend. form in test matches is concerned. The guy is one of the best prospects of modern cricket and all of us who have been watching cricket over a long period of time know very well that these sort of bad patches are very common. Viv Richards ( whom i consider better player than tend.), brain lara, gary sobers, javed miandad, zaheer abass, sunny gavaskar, gower and many many more went through the testing times. i guess what really bother people that how come tend. is goin through a bad patch. Answer is simple, he is a human being not a GOD.

However, F&B raised an interesting point by providing his one day statistics and test matches statistics over the same period . There is a significant contrast and one start thinking:

" is he realy going through bad form".

His one day form suggests:

"Not really, as he enjoys an avergae of almost 70 in one day version in last one year"

Now I dont think it has anything to do with his batting sopt. Tendulkar has scored so many runs at no 4 in his test career. I guess it is more of a psycological problem than anything else. I guess it has a lot to do with the level of concentration one can offer. In a one day game, u only need to concentrate for couple of hours while u r batting. whereas, in test matches, it is a different story. Plus, dont forget, that bowling tactics are so different in one day and test matches. In a one day match, you dont apply that much pressure. u try to save runs where as in test matches u put a lot more pressure.

I think tendulkar may need some rest. dont forget he is playin non-stop for so many years and he has to go through a lot because of expectations. But one should not question his abilities. He will be back soon.

Exactly but u need to explain this to those who think he is god  :hehe: :hehe:

Hey u replied so u understood what i meant ..... seeing that no need for me to improve my english ...... better go out and begin to boooooooo out once tendi walks out for batting ....... tell me one thing: Why u ppl don't get mad once looking into Bhajju's figures ???????? No bashing, no discussions on form etc. etc. and there r other similar cases in the indian team .......

BTW with u i didn't meant u personally (but appreantly that's what u perceived) but rather a bashing lot which is becoming bigger day by day ..... but whom i'm telling that !!!!!!!!!!

The Game Responds:

*To be honest, I have always feared Dravid and Ganguly more when India plays against us. Tendulkar is oh-so-overrated. Really. Hopefully, Dravid's form will be gone before India plays Pakistan, because he is one guy who can cling to the wicket as if his life is on the freakin' line. People, That Is All.*
