Which one is conspiracy theory and which one is not.
2- Who can be the judge of that?

There was no conspiracy by bloody civilians since 1958.

The problem with most conspiracy theories is that they are "suni sunai batein" with not much tangible evidence.
Re: Can any "conspiracy theory"..
Raymond Davis is a perfect example of a conspiracy theory that was actually true. In which the New York times and the Washington Post played an active part in covering it up. If it wasn't for the Guardian the West would have never admitted he was a CIA man.
Re: Can any "conspiracy theory"..
That CIA people exisit in Pakistan is not exactly a secret. It was and is pretty well known. So what was the mystery? In RD case becaus eit happened in public and because it was a convenient instance for some Pak agencies to try and show their displeasure of treatment by Americans, it was made into a big deal.

you have a charter membership with voting rights in the stupidos club but I have no part in it thankfully. enjoy your vote but do explain why if you can
Re: Can any "conspiracy theory"..
The nature of a conspiracy theory is that it is so far fetched that it can not be true. It has the standard James Bond stuff. Government conspiring against the people, good people vs bad people. One person being the powder keg that blows it all open. CIA agents till the Raymond Davis issue was a conspiracy theory.
You can do a search on this very website to see a good portion of the members said it just wasn't true. When it turns out the US government was actually conspiring with NYT and the WP to keep the information hidden from the public. Raymond Davis is the smoking gun to speak for all conspiracy theorists in Pakistan.

Experience tells us that most conspiricy theories are figments of a highly imaginative mind.
Usually its the simplest explanation that is true.
The human mind however, has a way of creating connections where there generally are none, and so the simplest solutions never quite satisfy a mind the yearns for answers.

But who decides what is a conspiracy theory and what is not?
How can that be argued that one person comes with one set of arguments and other person says: "Nope. Its conspiracy theory."
Here is detail:
It is all too well known that even if something may not be true, if repeated over time and is spread with powerful media, that something not true is 'perceived' by majority as true. In common terms it maybe called "Propaganda".
Now, someone comes with some other evidences, and tries to show that this something which has been repeated over and over again may not be true. Majority feels it is conspiracy theory.
Why, the had heard of it being true so many times.
Re: Can any "conspiracy theory"..
Theory can be true or false.
Conspiracy Theory is "theory that explains an event as being the result of a plot by a covert group or organization; a belief that a particular unexplained event was caused by such a group" - dictionary.com
There is nothing innate about conspiracy theories to conclude they have to be false. But most conspiracy theories are false because it is so easy to make them up - especially when you have illiterate masses to lap it up. That is what many fraudulent 'opinion leaders' do

Thanks.
But it does not answer who decides what is a conspiracy theory?
I have asked this again and again. :(
Re: Can any "conspiracy theory"..
oh, that is decided by the AACT
Re: Can any "conspiracy theory"..

I have asked this again and again. :(
i am searching the answer for this as well, so far it is like this, anything (true or lies) when said by a influential or powerful group is called fact ( at that moment and later when proved wrong they call it Blunder or Propaganda) and enjoy full support of the people who like to be either in the good books of those in power or may have common objective or may be looking forward to have some benefit of their own...
And if anything said against such "Truth" or Action by a powerful group by a relatively weak group and which cannot be refuted by argument is normally labelled as Conspiracy Theory.
So far this is what i have concluded, the Powerful who have control over the minds and thoughts of the people decides what is TRUTH and what is CONSPIRACY THEORY....

Logic is what tells us something is simply a conspiracy theory, and probably not based on facts. When this "theory" becomes so convoluted, that it defies reason, it is edging towards being an unfounded conspiracy.
Beyond this, the only one who can tell you what you believe is a conspiracy, is the person central to the supposed conspiracy. However, if your the sort to indulge in such conspiracies, then no amount of explanation will be enough. Paranoia in the minds of such people can be so overwhelming, that they would never trust anyone, and the explanation only adds to the conspiracy they have concocted in their heads.
Take for example those who believe that Americans are providing polio vaccines for the purpose of producing sterility in Muslims later in life. Now this is obviously far fetched, but no amount of reason would be enough for those who believe in it... Especially when it comes from the supposed source of the vaccine, the Americans.
Thats why I believe that person apparently from "CENTCOM" representing the US govt here, is wasting his time in trying to reason with some of the forum members, since he's only speaking directly to their paranoia and not their rational side..

Between two extremes is usually the answer.
If one conspiracy theory says one thing, another contradicts it, and both are equally absurd, then I think one should assume they are both wrong and take the middle ground.
As a general rule, the simplest explanation is the most accurate.

fitting reply ,his manners are like that ,does'nt argue sensibly.

Whatever comes out of government spokesperson is ultimate truth, everything else is conspiracy theory.
