Can a 9 month old keep themselves occupied, free of parental attention, for over 2 hours? Apparently so.

It depends on the kid.
My oldest nephewA was like that. When he was 3-5 year old I cold ask him to learn soccer and boxing with me. He would do that for hrs with me. HE would learn for sake of learning.
Next nephewB had a very short attention span.
Whe I spoke to bhabi about it her answer surprised me. she said when nephewA was few months old she put her dupata on him. an he will try to sort it out for hrs.
BTW A is extremey smart kid.

I think most babies play by themselves for 1 or 2 hour until they start walking on legs. Still what's so special about it? That's the way they are. Try leaving a toddler for 2 hours alone in a nursery.
