For the first time ever, closed circuit television cameras have been fitted inside the players’ dressing rooms at Punjab’s Mohali stadium for the second Test between India and New Zealand.

The cameras have been introduced as part of the International Cricket Council’s crackdown on match-fixing and to prevent players phoning bookmakers during games.

Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) secretary M P Mandove says an ICC official is also present at the ground to monitor the camera footage.

“An ICC anti-corruption unit man is also inside the stadium watching the closed circuit televisions,” Mandove said.

“His job is to scrutinise the actions of the players and note down anything suspicious,” he added.

Cricket has been overshadowed in recent years by allegations of match-fixing and bribery prompting the ICC to take action, although many argue that CCTV also invades the privacy of the players
