Can someone recommend a nice camera for aspiring photographers. My buget is $400 US.

Nikon D3100 or Canon EOS D1000 are good cameras within your budget ......Nikon D90 is awesome but a lil pricey

The canon 450D is better than the newest Release of D1000. Check out Dpreview.com for more details . I'd suggest you go for an entry level SLR and then build your glss collection as you find your niche/interest in photograhy.Make sure to go through some online research before making the purchase:)
