Quarterback Cam Newton has signed a five-year, $103.8 million extension with the Carolina Panthers, a source told ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The extension features $60 million guaranteed and will earn Newton $67.6 million in the first three years, according to the source.

The deal puts Newton, at least temporarily, among the top five highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL. Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck are expected to surpass him, however, when they get new deals.
