Before finishing the first paragraph, I am surprised that something as easily consumed as chocolate chip cookies or English muffins are in the dark from consumers on their high calorie stickers. It is one of the highly sought after items for breakfast - or any order of the day. People just don't know what they are eating and how 'healthy' it is. Restaurant chains just adore to label their food items as nutritional. A 1000 calories+ item and the nation has one of the highest obesity rates.
It is a good idea, perhaps not for the food industry. Pretty soon, consumers will have to be more aware of the ingredients that goes into their food behind the scenes (aspartame, suclarose). It is a good idea because we as society need to be aware of what we are eating. If, in a few years time, the rate of population's obesity continues to increase, food industry can sit on the sidewalk and laugh at that prospect. It is in our hands only.
