Re: Calling water 'mum'?
Why do some Pakistani kids (tots actually) call water mum?
Maybe the kid is asking for water, not calling their mum water.

Re: Calling water 'mum'?
My daughter would call poo 'kebabs"bechause of the shape of the poo .
Mama kebaaab nikalre Hai
Was funny until she said it out loud at a guests house.
She doesn't say it anymore
Re: Calling water ‘mum’?
I wonder who is here to blame ..
after all the “kebabs hits the fan threads”..
Re: Calling water 'mum'?
My aunt taught her grand kids mum for water and huppa for rice. It really used to annoy me, when they were 3 or so and could speak perfectly well otherwise. I've also always wondered where it came from originally.
Re: Calling water ‘mum’?
I will never again think of kababs in the same way again…GROSS!
Re: Calling water 'mum'?
Our kids call water boo and food maam. Milk is dudu. I love baby talk.
Re: Calling water ‘mum’?
We were trying to potty-train my niece. Training back-fired on us. Niece would be the one with her butt on the toilet and would enthusiastically order us to “zor lagaaao!!!” Zor lagaao amma!! Zor lagaao naani/aunti!! We’d look at each other strangely and then burst out laughing. Cuz why should we be the ones to zor lagaao…what are we pushing out…a baby? You’re the one sitting in the toilet kid, you be the one to zor lagaao!!! ![]()
At another time we were in the pool when niece announced that she crapped in the pool. Suddenly everyone stopped swimming. We all stared at her. Her mom asked her, “Khadija, are you sure?” There’s suspense and fear in the air. Niece then announces, “nah, it was just bongiyan.” We were relieved but still ![]()
Re: Calling water 'mum'?
Dunno about mum but my daughter says "maani" instead of paani. it is what she's able to say.
