Saadia, I am such a nalaik ! I have tried and tried to do the head shaping pagri thing, cant freaking get it right
Please can you do a pagri and stick a pic up for us , please please please , just to see how its done and how high it is .. the one I have tried a million times , seems to be high from all angles and I still dont know how the baby’s head will be placed in it :hinna:
I wrote in the other thread, that someone has to monitor the baby while the baby is using this, CB knows the risks already, not to use during sleeping time at night. I will post my other post here too. thanks
In general, whatever you try on the baby, think over it if there are any dangers involved. Check out every angle, before using any method. I did this on 3 babies and AH nothing happened but I was always checking but it was so worth it, mA my babies have nice round heads, that was worth every minute I spent checking on the safety of the baby.
Sorry if I sound insensitive- but I would much rather have flat headed babies than a baby that died of SIDS. Death with SIDS can happen in seconds! Even the most diligent parent cannot monitor a baby every second he or she sleeps.
To prevent flat heads safely use tummy time, hold your baby and vary its position in the crib.
Also your warning is not correct- babies should NEVER be put to sleep on their sides. They naturally turn their heads to spit up. Since the back to sleep recommendation was made the number of deaths in the us have been cut in half!
Here in my hospital, they would tilt the babies head to the side, whenever they saw the baby is sleeping on the back, I did not research on this, but my babies slept on their back.
So I dont get what you want, the baby is sleeping on its back, there is this rolled cloth under its head.
Ok Lets not over react with these things .. with babies everything is a risk and one has to be ultra careful.. if a flat head situation occurs , its much better to take actions to rectify the situation rather then let the child suffer for the rest of their life ..
To me, a child dying is a much bigger risk! A baby should not have anything in its crib, especially no fabric under its head! Remember it as the abc’s. A- alone, baby should sleep alone- nothing but a crib sheet and a baby. B- on it’s back. c- in a crib.
Lets not get paranoid, everything in life is a risk, shall we stop riding the car, taking the plane coz one can have an accident.
I am sorry that you think that grandmothers or mothers kill babies due to practices that might seem strange to you. To me I would never bath a baby as the some professionals midwives do as seen on TV very often, holding the head only. I think there is something called the mother instinct that tells the mother where the boundaries are. For me a flat head is a disaster. I have a colleague whose gori mom let him sleep on one side only, its very visible, as one side of the head is flat and taken in as the other, looks very uneven and makes the lad looks un-cool. So if some precautions would have been taken as baby, he would not have had this condition all his life long.
I also saw thag the goreys r trying to find a way for shaping the heads…
I saw on a news chanel that they put on baby helmets on the heads of the baby for minimum of 16 hrs a day…
Poor baby has to sleep with the helmet too :s ( will search the source and pasto here)
I think our desi ways give the baby much more comfort than thr helmet method
Ofcourse ehtiaat ki zaroorat hoti hey…but that goes for everythin. From feeding till sleepin so just trust ur instinct
