my 4 year old calls me by my name.. and i really do not like that i would rather have him call me ami or mom or mama or anything but my name.. i have tired ignoring him, iv’e explained to him, basically done everything he just wont budge even though my 2 year old calls me ami..
any advice on what i can do? or should i just give him time.. until he get’s around to it on his own?
Re: calling parent's by name
I would say just give it time. He will outgrow it. I know of another family where the 3 yr old daughter used to call both her parents by their names. Essentially she would just copy what her father was calling her mother, and vice versa. She outgrew it by the time she was 5/6. Important point is, at this age, kids dont understand that it may be 'rude' culturally. They just go with the flow.
Re: calling parent's by name
lol exactly. my little cousin used to call her dad chachu because all her cousins did!
Re: calling parent's by name
u should try to explain ur child by giving him/her examples of other kids calling their mothers mom aur mama etc etc....but don impose it to him.....correct him when he calls u by name politely....after a while he or she will understand,n start callling u mom...:)i guess
