Please help me! I’m going to Khi in two weeks and need to know where to shop. I want nice clothes - I live in NJ and the “desi fashion” here has really stepped up its game. I don’t want to just buy the regular clothes from Tariq Rd - I really want nice, stylish clothes (both formal and semi-formal). Price is not really an issue, as I’m looking for designer-type outfits.
you should check out zamzama. But bcoz it can be expensive you can get some nice clothes from clifton gulf shopping centre, there's loads of darzis there who can make some good stuff too. So unless you wanna totally spend chunks of cash unecessarily just because of some designer name, you can get 4 joras for the price of one and equally nice, if you only have some nice aunties/ladies in your family/friends that are local and will help with the shopping and selection of proper tailors. :)
you should check out Mohsin's (not Mohsin sons) Saima Centre at Tariq Road. u can get beautifull ,nice n stylish dresses wid neat n beautifull embroidery n stiching 4rm there ,must try.

especially i love Duppata material of Mohsin's ,main nay itnay beautifull duppatay n unique colour combination Mohsin's k ilawa kam daikhay hain.

Shanayle, what are their price ranges for formal wear? A friend of mine who's getting married in March is traveling to KHI as well but her budget isn't more than 100 per suit max.

if you want cool, modern clothes (eg sleavless, modern-cuts) you will need to make an appointment to see the couture collection of the designers, their outlets carry ready-to-wear which altho may have nice kaam, rarely are they funky coz they need to sell them to the general conservative pakistani public. when u get there just pick up a few fashion mags, see designs you like and ask for an appointment. clothes will cost you upwards from 20,000 rupees. i personally feel they are worth it.
^ Actually, I've seen a lot of boutiques with sleeveless outfits and attachable sleeves! There are enough people in Karachi that wear sleeveless, at least at formal events, that the boutiques keep them available.
wow! didn't get a chance to check this post because of Eid (Eid Mubarak all!!!). Thanks for all the great responses. I've jotted everything down and I'm hoping that you'll add anything else that comes to your mind.
