Re: Calling all experts! Facial at Home - How to???
Hmmm I just use some products that i know work very well for my skin type. I dont like steaming my face so i dont do that. Here is some of the things that i use.
Once a week or so:
I use a mask made with Aztec clay mixed with apple cider vinegar (it stinks but i swear works better than any other clay mask i have ever used, cheap yet effective; and i have oily acne prone skin)
Papaya enzyme mask with the enzyme cleaner (leaves my skin feeling smooth and clean)
Black head cleaning strips (so i dont have to steam my face but the above masks loosen the gunk and if you use these regularly, the build up is minimal)
The enzyme mask costs a bit but i can use the jar for a few months of regular use.
I save money AND have the convenience of doing things on my own at home at my own time. I used to come home with a red face after each facial and just felt terrible. No more of that.

Re: Calling all experts! Facial at Home - How to???
Well you can do a basic DIY facial at home by deep cleansing (use a steamer perhaps if you have one?) and then exfoliate, then do some blackhead extraction if you're confident enough to, then stick on a face mask, let it work it's magic, remove, cleanse, tone, facial massage with moisuriser/oil and you're ready!
But I always find salon facials with the scary looking machinary give better results. And also cos I'm too lazy to do the above and hate trying to wash dried up face mask off my towels afterwards :p
Re: Calling all experts! Facial at Home - How to???
I reckon professional facial's are easier. Less mess. Whenever I try one at home, its about 5 mins long cos I get dead bored of rubbing gloop on my face in circular motions. Having said that, I dont really like professional facials either, they touch in places they are not allowed to and your not allowed to laugh...its just wrong.
Get your sister, cousin, friend, husband to do it...that way its still free but less boring!
Cleanse u're skin with a good cream cleanser and add to it rosewater so it glides over the skin easily.. wipe-off with slightly damp cotton pads.
Scrub u're face using microbeads or a homemade facial scrub.
Give urself a nice long facial massage and u're u're strokes upwards and outwards, use a heavy moisturiser and rosewater don't forget u're forehead and eye-area
Steam u're face over a bowl of hot water, add mint leaves to it if u wish
Apply an astringent according to u're skintype
End with a mask..for oily skin use a clay-based mask. For dry skin cream and saffron is great!
yeah, i do! no, really, my mum is quite uncomfortable at salons and stuff so i wanted to know so i could give her a home beauty treatment, and also i want to do the same for husband, cos he refuses to moisturise these days and needs a thorough cleanse, exfoliation and deep moisturising treatment. Im going to have to strap him down and slap it on!

I will HAVE to do exfoliation and blackhead extraction on hubby, cos he won't take these steps himself!!!
U're welcome! I'm here till the mods deactivate my account =) yes ask him to steam to make blackhead extraction easier.. and scrub in small circular motions to dislodge all the blackheads and whiteheads.. everyone needs a facial!
I know it's relaxing when sumone else does it..but there's no excuse for not doing it on urself!
Re: Calling all experts! Facial at Home - How to???
i do this little thing, and it's always always made my skin dewy n glowy.
basically just steam your face, and then scrub it with a mixture of olive oil + sugar.
like a tbsp of sugar to a tsp of olive oil. and then i just scrub my face for 10 minutes or so with this and wash it with a cleanser and voila! very rarely do i bother with a mask since my skin is towards the dry side and in my experience, masks mostly tighten and dry my skin out!
but a mask can be followed up with according to skin type. and then just tone and moisturize.
^ That's perfect for a mini-facial! But if u plan on doing a facial do it when u're relaxed and blv me massage is critical! The massage helps get the gunk out of u're pores and helps in cleanser absorption. Do a home facial when u're off =)
Massage for atleast 10 mins..and don't forget to remove u're blackheads too!
Bhenjee thanks, i will use the olive oil and sugar scrub in the facial, it sounds very good.
Adra, im going to give the man strict instructions to use his face scrub after the shower, and then carry out a surprise attack with the mask when he is least suspecting it.
Gina, yes i certainly agree about the massage, for me its the favourite part of going to get it done. Also, can't u just cancel your de-activation request, carry on as normal. Change your mind!
