I need to compile a list of places to go/see when in Dubai next month. Am there for a while so I can get plenty done.
I need help in particular with shopping places. I’ve looked thru some old threads and found that Meena Bazaar in Bur Dubai recommended a few times. Where else is good for desi clothes (especially stitched men’s kurtas/salwar kameez).
Also, where can I find good quality replicas bags/small leather goods?
Meena Bazar is good for unstitched outfits, lots of Indian fabrics. Amir Adnan, FnK Asia have men's clothes. You'll find knock-off's in Meena Bazaar as well.
The area behind Sharjah Cinema is the place to go if you want nice fabric, Regal is good for formal-wear. Deeba Khan for threads & motif's.
Jafferji's is in Burjuman Center, they usually have nice leather goods..
small trinkets and souvenirs to take back as presents
men's kurtas (not necessarily designer, just simple ones)
some decent unstitched fabrics for salwar kameez (light formal wear stuff)
and you've kindly covered all of those
other than that, I've got plenty of time and money to spend on anything else Dubai has to offer... I've been told the huge malls are a waste of time, same shops as here in the UK but everything's more expensive. So I just wondered what else I should check out in Dubai that's not available here
You could get all the trinkets and all from Naif souk also Madinat-al-Jumeirah has shops that sell them as well. From bellydance outfits to mini-sheesha’s, to your name in sand bottles
Kachins in Bur Dubai has nice shalwar kameez and material for men’s kurta’s as well as ready-to-wear stuff.
Yes Dubai is certainly alot better a market then the UK , but all the good stuff will be over priced there as well ... thats what i felt when i visited a few months back :( ... definitely visit the sharjah cinema market , its got fabulous cloth shops ...
And there is this mall on Dubai Sharjah road , its called Ansar mall .. I love their collection of purses ... and jewels ...might as well try them out ..
