Calling 4357(Help)

You the people who spend budget of millions in weeks, develop multi million $ products, charge clients like there is no tomorrow waghaira etc waghaira etc…
how often you call IT support?
Let’s make it bit more interesting…
When was the last time you called your PC support or IT support or IS Help and why?

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

I’ve NEVER done that. :chai:

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

being in IT myself I have had to call IT helpdesk quite a few times. (I hate all the initial questions they have to ask)

Reasons being:

  • My PC got kicked off the domain (even though I have a domain admin account)
  • bitLocker wanted in, I wanted it out. ( I won at the end since I have a dual boot machine and you cant have a dual boot machine and bitlocker)
  • other countless issues.....

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

IS Audit and SOX compliance requires the proper documentation of each deployment on production server....

I request system admin through Help Desk that I will going to deploy application on production server... please assign me proper rights for that... once application published... I again request them to take my rights back.... :D

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

Yeh jo loog NEVER kah rahay hain…wohi saab saay zyada call karty hain:hehe:

@JK: If you are domain admin why u need to call HD?
@mahool: why dont they give you permanent rights? Dont trust you or u got history of somekind?

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

In theory… deployment should be automated process by service account… In real… it never goes straight… sometime IIS never restarted… or job doesn’t run…

This is just a jugad to keep production error minimal… :bummer:

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

You got me…I have asked this question a million times but no one can answer it. I dont care about it anymore and just call the HD. Less work for me to do and claim to the boss that I could’nt work since my system was not letting me in…

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

@mahool: One day u will explain to me using generic accounts and SOX :k:
@JK: aho as usual…support is responsible :hoonh:
lol

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

I m support as well.

Mahool: Is it like the active directory windows generic account that you are talking about? Asking since I saw IIS there.

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

I called yesterday. My desk phone wasn't working. They had to reset the ports to make it work.

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

In a corporate environment (specially financial and other tightly regulated industries) permissions assigned HAVE to be documented and on a temporary basis.
Also, these days of viruses and Cryptolocker adopt the moto of “Trust No One” (TNO), you’d live a longer life.

Re: Calling 4357(Help)

^True.
