well this is how I did it by using oil:

• I first did the borders on the side. To make sure the border is straight, you might wanna use sticky contact paper where the border ends and background starts. I let this dry before I went on to the next step (usually 1-2 days)
• Then once the border was dry, I did the background. Before doing this, I covered the boder (which I did previously) so that paint doesn’t cover the border. Background should be dry within 1-2 days.
• By now, the background and border is dry and the final step would be to do the main calligraphy.

but i think to choose soft colors like in ur paintings are very difficult.
how u make selection of ur colr combination?
did u make it on canvas or board?
