Please everyone read this carefully…this is mainly intended for Muslims to read, but non-Muslims will benefit also.

The last three months since I’ve been at gupshup, I have only seen animus debates (condemning each others sects and religions) by people who prove (with the exception of a few) that they know nothing and just come here to replay what has been recorded in their minds by ‘others’.
These ‘others’ are usually people who share their beliefs and like them * were born into * the religion or sect that they currently follow. For most of them this concludes the fact that they have given very little thought to other beliefs and probably have never looked at someone else’s belief with an open mind.
Most of the people who share a common belief are in a constant game of ‘chinese whisper’, where they alter only a small portion of opinions that they pass on to each other with full confidence of ther legitimacy. But are we going to follow what we are taught without even once wondering about its accuracy?!
Remember that religion is very important, it is our code of life, our intrepretition of life, if we have no religion, our life is similar to a scenario where one comes unprepared for a test and writes anything that comes to his mind.
The big question is: Who to follow?, sunni, wahabi, shia, or hindu, etc..?, Who is right and who is wrong?..only Allah (God) knows, for he is All-Knowing.
Being sane individuals it is our duty to think on this issue, and to do this effectively we have to have a good understanding of each belief and the opinions of its followers. Then we have to judge by using our common sense of right and wrong, and ofcourse some smarts.
Islam is a single religion, I believe that only one sect of Islam has to be right. Fortunately, thanks to the Most Gracious it is extremely easy for a Muslim to follow the correct Islam…Allah has given us a great and true book, the Holy Quran, and He has also taken responsibility for its authenticity. The Quran can and will NEVER change. We can judge each hadeeth, each rule and practice by the Quran.
It is the month if Ramadan and I think that we Muslims should read the whole quran and its translation during this month of blessing and InshaAllah Allah will bestow wisdom on us and join us with the righteous…for those who are doing itekaf, I think that they should do 1/2 of a para everyday (which is not much) and during itekaf, they can do upto two paras daily. But remember read the Quran and its translation with an open heart and try to gain as much wisdom from it as possible. Believe me you’ll be way wiser once you’re done with it.
Also it is my request to all guppies who participate in the religion forum to discuss such matters of conflicting sects in a keen and ethical way.
Instead of
“Shias go to graves for worship and are the viruses of Islam”
Say this
“Dear shia brothers, I have heard that you go to graves for worship and I think this is not right because…please provide some insight on this”
and one more thing…do not generalize by saying that I heard a member of a certain belief say this and cause it is wrong the whole sect is wrong! Remember we follow a religion by obeying and accepting its teachings and not by following the followers of that particular religion.
And if you are not interested in perfecting your religion and come here for the sole purpose of ‘attacking’ other beliefs and ‘defending’ your own…please stay out.

I hope this is of help to everyone and that people do abide by it.
