I am thinking for making a call center in Karachi. I heard that its a good profitable bushiness. I own a office space too.
My question is where can i learn all the things about it like how to setup it? etc I think I had to buy few computers, have to buy some predictive dialer or auto dialer software etc .
My main concern is if i honestly think of establishing it can I even start it as 1-2 persons? so I can evaluate if I am making something before investing too much?
There is no need for a dialer as of now. Focus on getting your first paid clients.
I would build a website, create capability brochures (skills/solutions that you provide) and have one phone # to start with. Get a mobile phone as that would be easy to get started with. As your business grows, consider dial in or out capabilities. You have time to think about those. Now is not the time.
Call center is a good business provided you have a unique skill in the market. “Me too” is going to be difficult to get started unless you can build a few steady clients.
And when you do get set up, send me a PM. I might hire a couple of people from you.
Hardest thing to find in Pakistan is talent/skill . I wasted my fair share of time trying to find programmers , but situation is disappointing . You’ll find a lot of ‘‘talkers’’ , and very very few walkers .
^ true. i have been in positions where I could have pumped lots of enterprise business to Pakistan. very unfortunate that I could not find a right partner with suitable bench skills. i am sure there is talent. but i think we have far more greedy operators who want to squeeze out the first customer that walks in their door.
maybe peaceandlove up there change that trend. i wish him best of luck. more business to pakistan!
I have worked in call center industry for over 4 years and here are a few suggestions.
1- Don’t get an autodialer, get a predictive dialer. Technically not much of a difference may be but very frustrating for the agents to use autodialer and not to mention that
2- Get a hosted solution instead of dedicated server solution. Its going to be quite expensive but reliable.
3- The biggest issue technology infrastructure of a callcenter face is the bandwidth. Unless you can get a space in some STP setup by govt, its highly unlikely that you will get a stable internet connection to continuously make calls. Nayatel could be an option but I know for a fact that Micronet didn’t work so you might want to check on that.
4- Getting projects for a call center project isn’t that difficult but getting payments from the client can be a nightmare.
Instead of actual setup of 1-2 people there is always an option of leasing space from an existing call center. This model was really successful a few years back but I am not sure about now. You can talk to someone who already has a call center, you hire agents and put them on the phone. You can start looking for the projects based on the HR you hired.
The people who are suggesting that you should get clients first before you setup might be right in terms of being risk averse however that might not be a best approach in case of call center industry in general. A setup is what would convince clients to give you projects, if you don’t have one, what are you going to tell to get the project? I assume the only way in that case is a lie that you have a setup - not a great way to start.
Do you personally have any experience working in a call center ?
