California students to promote Hindi films
Some University of California, Berkeley, students are so keen to expose audiences to the delights of Hindi films that they’ve brought together half a dozen such films to launch their very own South Asia Film Festival. The much-loved blockbuster “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” “Hum Apke Hain Kaun” and “Maachis” are included. Also on the schedule are the Amitabh Bachchan film “Anand” (1970) and Raj Kapoor’s 1973 classic “Bobby.” The films will be shown in classrooms on the campus and viewers who wish to discuss the films at length can gather afterward, said program representative Raba Gunasekara.
