calcium and iron

i dont know its true or not but people usually say that iron and calcium shouldnt take together…if u taking iron skip calcium intake and if taking calcium dont take iron …

is that true…?

Re: calcium and iron

:hmmm: I’m not entirely sure but I have heard that taking calcium supplements with iron supplements can reduce the absorption of iron. I don’t think it’s harmful taking the two minerals together but calcium does have an inhibitory effect on the absorption of iron.

I think vitamin C helps to increase the absorption of iron, while vitamin D from the sun helps with calcium absorption.

Hope that’s useful

Re: calcium and iron

Yes calcium inhibits/interferes with the absorption of Iron. Like Syraa said its not harmful. If you are deficient in both than take them separately. Calcium at night and iron during the day. Healthy individuals don't need to worry about this but if you are deficient in Iron try to limit calcium while you eat your normal meals. Of course try to get your calcium in during other times
