Cake question for Eid - please help!!!

Hiya,

I’m using Betty crocker devils food cake mix to make cup cakes for eid 2mw, Ive read on here in some cake threads and other blogs that adding instant chocolate pudding mix makes it moist, now I e got all the other ingrediens recommemded like sour cream etc that one should add but could not find instant pudding mix in tesco :frowning: Thats the only place close by. I found Yorkshire pudding mix which cAn also be used for making pancakes but that’s it. Can I use that? If not then what else can I add instead of the pudding mix?

I need to bake these 2mw so any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Re: Cake question for Eid - please help!!!

betty crocker cake mixes come with pudding already in the mix, so you won't need to any any more pudding. the way the mixes are crafted, if you add anything more, it will throw off the amount of liquids you'll need and the baking time, so unless you know how those will change, i'd avoid adding anything extra.
bake the cakes a day in advance. let them cool in the pan for 10 minutes or so and then take them out and let them cook on baking racks. when fully cooled, cover in plastic wrap and store in the fridge.
when you take the cake out the next day to decorate, not only will it be super moist, but the cool cake will also mean there won't tons of little crumbs flying everywhere and getting mixed up in your filling and icing.
