Re: cake pops

OMG Those cake pops ruined my life :(

I'l type out the whole story at hometime!

Re: cake pops

Does anyone know where i can get the sticks from for the cake sticks i live in the uk?

Re: cake pops

Noorah I got mine from Asda, but they were £2/3 (I think) for only 12 sticks. You can get them from Hobbycraft...iv been told.

So, I baked a normal victoria sponge (dont do cake boxes as im a snob). Let it cool, crumbed it and mixed in buttercream which I also made myself. Made 30 round nittle balls and popped them in the fridge for 24 hours.

Melted 70% coca chocolate, with a little butter to make it shiny, dipped the stick into the chocolate first to line it, then popped the cake ball on the stick and then dipped back into the chocolate.

The hardest part was figuring out how to let the chocolate set. I put them standing on their heads so to speak, so the stick was sticking up, like an upside down lollipop.

17 were perfect, slowly slowly the rest of them died. The cake balls just broke and I couldnt fix them as they were breaking once they had already been dipped into the chocolate. I was SO annoyed as I was making them for my kids for my birthday.

Im never going to try them again, too much effort.

Re: cake pops

Khawateen you can buy the cake if you want, or use a box mix or bake from scratch

Last week I made this cake Versatile Vanilla Cake - Martha Stewart Recipes, baked in two 8 inch pans. The cakes domed quite a bit and since I was layering it, I cut off the domes and used that for the cake pops. Crumbed and added frosting. Rolled into balls with my hands, placed on a tray lined with wax paper and then set in the fridge to set. Melted semi-sweet chocolate chips, with a tiny bit of veg oil in it. When pops were hard and cold, I rolled them in the melted chocolate. I didnt have any sticks on hand, so just used two forks to roll the balls in the chocolate to cover them completely, and then back on the tray to dry and set. Added some sprinkles on top and then back in the fridge. They were sooo cute and yummy, wish I had pictures. From just the two domes I got at least 25 pops

Check baking stores or craft stores

Re: cake pops

What I do is that I use left over cake, or bake a new sheet of cake, crumble it up. Mix some butter cream into it and roll the mixtures into balls. You will need lolly pop sticks and candy melts next. I melt my candy melts in the microwave. Next I dip the tip of my stick into the melted candy and secure it into the ball, so that it looks like a lollypop. Now, holding the stick with the ball face down, I dip it into the melted candy. Tap of any excess and voila! You've got yourself a yummy cake pop.
