surely i can’t be the only one who woke up this morning and looked over fb/insta wondering what the hoo-haa about caitlyn jenner was as i thought it was probably bruce jenner’s ex-wife or something.

Saw the pics on Insta last night.. Seriously tho, can’t even begin to imagine how hard it must be to make the transition.. don’t think I’d have the strength to go throught that myself, not that I want to be a man anyway lol

Have to admit she looks good lol but personally i dont understand this. After 6 kids and marriages and grankids etc it seems extreme but hey each to thier own i dont think its somethjng i could do lol not that im unhappy being a female! Lol

^Apparently as Bruce he’d begun taking meds before meeting Kris and marrying her so it had been in his mind a long time ago.. He’d begun to transition but stopped when he married her.. He was cross dressing whilst married to her so maybe that was his way of expressing his need to be a woman in the only way he could bk then..
I’m not that into the whole Kardashian thing btw.. just read it in the papers :sid:

Caitlin is a she.
The thread does not belong in CAFE. It fits here just fine. It is about a person who made a very brave choice to be who she is.
The topic is not apparently worldwide news. It is. And has nothing to do with Kardashian for those of us who knew the brilliant decathlon champion Bruce. (I had no idea about the link between Caitlin and Kardashians till about 4 weeks ago).
As for why the world cares so much about it, it probably is because it is a human interest story and involves a famous world champion. The fact that decathlon is the measure of a person’s physical toughness adds additional punch.
Again, Caitlin is a she.

the description that I found most apt was that this was not just an average transition from male to female…it was transition of an “alpha male” (taking into account Bruce Jenner’s accomplishments in the athletic arena) to a female…
I saw a clip of Kris saying how difficult this process was for her…that she was actually having to “mourn” Bruce. I have to admit that I felt sorry for her.

I said for some of us it has nothing to do with Kardashians. I also added I had no idea about linkage between Caitlin and Kardashians till 4 weeks ago. So for me it was ONLY about a person who also was world champion decatlhlete.
Of course, for the younger generation who know the Kardashians better than I do and don’t know too much about the 1976 gold, it would be MORE abt Kardashains.

yeah exactly, that’s what i’m trying to get at. because “some” of you are not representative of the majority who are only interested or the media is amplifying it because of the kardashian link. having said that, i do think the psyche behind his transition is interesting considering he was an athlete with the whole “alpha” male role to play.

after a good search on this i just felt this one thing. Its like someone died without a funeral, proper burial:(. people wish for a life which Bruce Jenner had, fame, success, wealth, love, kids, what was missing 
. He had everything. And now he is left with this fake self. 
Maybe if he was close to (any) religion he might not had end up like this.
I say good for him… only get one life to live. Man has guts.
Feel bad for kris and the rest of em.. but meh.

You have to admit that he waited for all of them to get to an age where you would expect that they would have some emotional maturity and be in a better position to cope with his decision.
He’s probably seeing it from the, “I may have 20 years of life left…might as well live it as I’ve longed to” perspective.
I hear you though, I don’t think that I would have the courage to do it.
I would probably see it from the, “I’ve lived this long, I can hack another 20 years…” view.

I’m a bit of a prude in such situations.
I feel like he’s saying God made a mistake with him.
I can’t buy that.
If he was intended to be a woman he would have been.
Now he’s dragging a whole khandaan into all this muck.
Perhaps this isn’t a religious conversation and I’m making it one but Caitlyn is a monkey in my book.

The only difference between Caitlyn Jenner and Chelsea Manning ( aka Bradley Manning ) is then name Kardashian. Alpha male → female is just another storyline.
