CAIR's Jihad

Munni, i think, posted a thread like this before - something to do with CAIR’s library initiative. This is following up on that.

What’s jihad? A struggle, whether external and/or internal, to improve ourselves, through self-surrender to Allah’s will, to obtain peace - can be one definition. The Library Initiative carried out by CAIR (Canada) below, to me expresses one aspect of jihad in action - fighting against mutual ignorance. Their mission is to have one of these educational packages in as many libraries as possible throughout North America. In my medium-sized Cdn city, we have about 22 libraries; CAIR has purchased sufficient packages to ensure there is one placed at each library branch. They had an opening press conference at the main downtown library branch a few days ago, which was even carried in the city’s notoriously right-wing, Muslim-phobic newspaper.

CAIR-CAN and Sound Vision Canada have embarked upon an ambitious campaign to provide quality materials about Islam to every Canadian public library.

Now more than ever, your local public library is interested in Islamic resources. But balanced and accurate materials are not always available or affordable. Working together, we can make a difference.

For only $200, we will send a library of your choice a package of high-quality materials. Educate your fellow Canadians about Islam as a religion of peace and justice that has a rich civilization and culture. Sponsor a library today!

:: How it Works

Identify a library in your local community that you would like to receive the package. (If that library has already been selected, we will choose another library in your province).
Call us to sponsor a package. All the materials are purchased together to receive the best discounts.
Libraries are informed of your intention to donate the library package. We will send the materials to the library along with a letter of explanation and thanks. In addition, we will send a confirmation letter to you indicating which library has been sent your package.
The library will, insha Allah, make the materials available to readers who will learn to appreciate Islam and Muslim civilization.

Thanks for sharing, Nadia. Yes, I posted this in General awhile back. I've actually read some of the books in this "package" and they are pretty good, and interesting. Its a great initiative, and Insha'Allah will spread understanding. Great post! smile
